JAMMU, Aug 29: A two-week student induction programme for first year B Tech students for batch-2024 commenced today at GCET Jammu, under the patronage of Prof Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET Jammu.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Sharma emphasized that the program aims to help new students to adjust to the new environment, boost confidence, and develop key skills such as creativity, time management, leadership and interpersonal relationships.
She also highlighted GCET’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation, with all departments accredited by the NBA, and strong industry linkages, ensuring that the students are prepared for global opportunities. She also encouraged the students to participate in various activities which will be helpful in inculcating ethos and culture of the institution, to build bonds with other students and faculty.
Prof Anita Brar, Coordinator of the Student Induction Program, presented inaugural address wherein she emphasized that the program’s focus on holistic development to prepare students for future challenges. She also stated that the expert lectures by the eminent speakers will change their perspective of life and stimulate their logical and analytical ability and provide them the opportunity to think beyond.
The Heads of various departments viz. Prof Simmi Dutta, Prof Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, Prof Dina Nath, Dr Rajiv Bali, Er Sanjeev Gupta, Dr Heera Saini were present during the inaugural function where they shared the overall view of their departments and encouraged the students to instill the humanistic values, philanthropic spirits and overall nurturing of good instincts.
The program was witnessed by various lectures and interactive sessions by experts and eminent speakers from reputed universities/ companies across the country. Dr Neena Gupta Vij delivered a lecture on “Soft Skills for Personality Enhancement,” followed by Chitrakshi V Vij’s lecture on “Goal Setting” and finally Dr Parul Mahajan shared her views on “Emotional Intelligence” with the students.
The committee members present during the programme included Prof Dina Nath, Dr Heera Saini, Dr Neerupma, Dr Deepika Sharma, Dr Vikesh Kumar, Dr Aijaz Ahmad Malla, Rohit Kumar, Neeraj Gupta, Meenakshi Gupta, Rubina Farid Shapoo, Bharat Bhushan, Jaswinder Singh, Sumit Kumar, Atit Sharma, Karan Kapoor and Chater Buj.
