Two thieves held, stolen gold recovered

JAMMU, Oct 13: Police in Jammu’s Digiana area claimed today they have arrested two thieves and recovered from their possession gold worth more than Rs 1.80 lakh.
A police official said on October 7, a written complaint was lodged by one Bachno Devi of Vishwakarma Chowk regarding theft of gold items at her place.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 196/2024 under the relevant sections of the law was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, two suspects identified as Aman Kumar of Vishkarma Chowk Digiana, and Sunil Kumar alias Kaka of Udhampur Nagar Digiana were detained for questioning, he said.
The police official said that during sustained questioning, the duo confessed to their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure, the stolen 25 grams of gold worth Rs 1.87 lakh was recovered from their possession.
Further investigation into the case is underway, he added.
