JAMMU, July 12: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Gandhi Nagar area have solved two separate theft cases with the arrest of three accused and recovery of stolen items, including a motorcycle and copper wire worth Rs 25000 from their possession.
A police official said in the first case, a complaint was lodged by one Rinku, a resident of Valmiki Colony, who reported that his motorcycle (JK02CP-6320) was stolen from outside RKM Gym, Green Belt Park, on July 5.
Acting swiftly, he said, a police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar, under the supervision of SDPO City South and SP South, launched an investigation using technical surveillance and local inputs.
During the investigation, the police arrested Manmeet Singh of Link Road, Simbal Camp, he said.
“He confessed to the crime during questioning, and the stolen motorcycle, valued at Rs 55,000, was recovered from his possession,” said the police official.
In a separate case FIR number 149/2025, he said, two more individuals were arrested for stealing copper wire.
The accused, identified as Vishal Saini of Chatha, and Dheeraj Joshi of Suhanjna, Phallian Mandal, were found in possession of the stolen copper wire worth Rs 25,000.
The police official said the investigation in both cases is ongoing, and the role of the accused in other similar theft incidents is under scrutiny.
“Further recoveries and arrests are likely as the probe continues,” he said.
