JAMMU, Apr 25: Gandhi Nagar police arrested two snatchers and recovered stolen items from their possession.
As per police sources, on April 20 this year, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Gandhi Nagar by Dolly, daughter of Puran Singh of Upper Gadigarh stating that two unknown boys snatched her hand bag containing her mobile phone and some cash at Nai Basti and fled away on a motorcycle.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 104/19 under Section 382 and 34 RPC was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, enquiries were made and a number of suspects were rounded up and questioned, based on which, two snatchers were apprehended.
The arrested persons have been identified as Liyaqat Ali alias Ganja, son of Hussain Mir of Sikanderpur Kothain, Bishnah and Mohammad Anwar alias Ilahi, son of Mohammad Shafi of Ajit Nagar, Babliana. On questioning, they disclosed their involvement in the commission of crime and based on their disclosure, the snatched mobile phone and purse were recovered.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani.
