Two school buses seized for violating traffic rules

Anantnag, Apr 8: After a major bus accident in South Kashmir in which nine school children died and an equal number was injured, the traffic police have tightened noose around the school buses violating the norms.
The Traffic police today seized two school buses and challaned 24 other school buses for overloading. The two school buses that were seized belonged to Rose Garden Public School, Anantnag and CATS.
These two school buses had no registration certificate and the driver was without driving license and they were ferrying the students beyond their carrying capacity.
A traffic official said that one of the buses having a seating capacity of 29 was carrying 57 students, similarly the other buses were carrying 53, 60 and 61 students against the capacity of 29, 36 and 31 respectively.
People have hailed the action against the private school buses by the traffic authorities. But they said that Traffic police was sleeping over it despite repeated complaints by the parents of the school children.
