Two rescued, two trapped in Ravi river

KATHUA, Aug 5: In a bid to cross Ravi river, two people among a group of four youth, got trapped on an island in the river, near here today while two others managed to cross the river.
According to the reports, despite the hectic efforts put in by Lakhanpur police and other local administration, two people among a group of four youth who were trapped in an island in between the river were not still rescued, while two managed to cross the river. The water of river suddenly rose, resulting into trapping of the two youth. The trapped youth have been identified as  Balbir Singh, son Anchal Singh Ward Number 25 and Sushinder Singh, son of Anhas Raj Ward Number 14, Kathua.
The rescue operation was being carried out under the direct supervision of Mohan Lal, SSP Kathua. The police said that due to poor visibility rescue could not be carried out in late night hours. Efforts are still on to rescue the trapped.
