J&K Sikh Societies Amalgamate highlights demands

JAMMU, Aug 5: J&K Sikh Societies Amalgamate held a meeting under the chairmanship of its chief patron Gurdeep Singh Sasan to highlight socio-economical and political problems being faced by PoK refugees of 1947.
While speaking, Sasan highlighted the problems being faced by the refugees’ community and also highlighted the contents of the resolution passed.
He appealed to the Chief Minister to approve and forward a package of Rs 25 lakhs per family for PoK refugees to the Central Government for their permanent settlement which will mitigate their economical problems.
He urged the Central Government to immediately release special funds for modernization of PoK refugees’ colonies which are in worst conditions.
He also urged to start a special drive for the recruitment of PoK refugees wards in Central Government Department and para-military forces, formation of financial corporation for refugees, declaration of transport as industry, regularization of camps/basks, sufficient representation to refugees in PSC/ SSRB and other statutory bodies, special scholarship to the poor students of the community, etc.
