Two poppy straw suppliers arrested

JAMMU, Aug 23: Satwari police under “Operation Sanjeevani” arrested two poppy straw (bhukki) suppliers.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Satwari police station laid a naka and asked two pedestrians to stop for checking, as they were trying to hide themselves after seeing police cops.
During checking, police recovered 17 kilograms of poppy straw from the bags being carried by the pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Paramlaktej Singh, son of Lakhbir Singh and Deep Singh, son of Rakesh Kumar, both residents of Jallandhar, Punjab.
During questioning, it came to fore that both the accused persons use to sell the poppy straw among the youth. With their arrest, police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 164/17 under Section 8/15/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Satwari police station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and assisted by SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh and ASI Mohammad Akram made the arrest under the supervision of SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
