RAMBAN, June 16: Police here today foiled a narcotics smuggling bid in Banihal and arrested two narco-smugglers with heroin during a routine Naka checking at T-Chowk.
Cops intercepted two pedestrians coming from railway station road and moving towards Banihal market side and during their checking 10 gm heroin like substance, Rs. 10,000 cash and two syringes were recovered from their possession.
On enquiry the duo disclosed their identity as Saqib Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmed, resident of Malwat Changloo and Muzaffar Ahmed, son of Habib Ullah Wagay, resident of Karawah, Banihal at present in Gujjar Nagar, Jammu.
The duo was arrested on the spot and contraband was seized in the presence of Executive Magistrate.
In this regard a case in FIR No. 142/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery were made by cops from Police Station Banihal under the command of PSI Ishan Sharma, I/C SHO Banihal and under the supervision of SDPO Banihal, Nisar Ahmed Khoja and under the overall supervision of SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma.
