JAMMU, Apr 17: In response to various complaints regarding irregularities and misuse of LPG distribution, Minister for CA&PD, Ch Zulfkar today constituted 4 squads under the supervision of Secretary CA&PD Satish Nehru, to check misuse of subsidized LPG at commercial establishments and status of home delivery at the doorsteps of the consumers.
All the four squads comprising officers of Legal Metrology, CA&PD, Revenue and Police besides representatives of oil companies headed by G S Chib, Director CAPD were deployed in all the parts of Jammu city.
During inspection M/s Unique Gas Agency and M/s Shiva Gas Agency were found selling LPG cylinders by point delivery at Preet Nagar and Satwari against the guidelines of oil companies and directions of Government.
Both the trucks were seized and handed over to Police Station Gandhi Nagar for safe custody and matter has been recommended for further action by respective oil companies.
During the inspection, 36 establishments were found using subsidized LPG cylinders for the commercial purpose and a total of 53 cylinders were seized and handed over to oil companies for safe custody.
To ascertain whether 100% home delivery is being made to the consumers, record of seven distributors namely M/s Kameshwar Gas Agency, M/s Jagat Ram & Sons, M/s JAKFED, M/s Shivangi Gas Agency, M/s Chenab Gas Agency and M/s Chenab Gas Agencies were scrutinized to ascertain the actual delay in supplying the LPG to the consumers. Pendency of 10-15 days was noticed by the teams.
On getting the complete feedback from the enforcement teams through Director CAPD, the officers of oil companies were called by the Minister and strict warning was issued to streamline the delivery system by ensuring 100% home delivery.
“Consumers should not get any trouble in booking their gas through online system and on the phone numbers of the distributors”, the Minister made it clear. He directed the officers of the oil companies to take stringent action against the erring distributors under the standing guidelines of oil companies within two days.
