JAMMU, Mar 6: Two persons including an officer of J&K police were killed while two others were injured in three separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a police officer identified as Sub Inspector Ashok Singh Charak (50) posted at Police Control Room, Jammu, was hit and seriously injured by a speeding tractor at Kunjawani, when he was going on its scooter. The blood ridden officer was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting post mortem tomorrow. The deceased was son of Devi Dutt, a residence of Deoli (Bishnah). A case in this connection was registered at police station Gangyal and efforts were on to nab the accused tractor driver, who managed to escape from the spot leaving behind the vehicle.
In Seer area of RS Pura, a jeep hit a scooter killing the rider, Balwinder Kumar (27) son of Satpal, a resident of RS Pura and injuring pillion rider, Deepak Kumar (12) son of Ranjit Singh, a resident of Seer. The injured were shifted to GMCH for treatment while the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities. The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
A Safai Karamchari of Jammu Municipality was today hit and injured by a mini-bus bearing registration number JK02AN-3249, when he was sweeping the road near Secretariat. The injured man identified as Rooplekh Khokher (28) son of Sagar Khokher, a resident of Christian Colony, Jammu, was shifted to GMCH for treatment and the accused mini-bus driver identified as Shakeel Ahmed son of Bagh Hussain, a resident of Ward No 12 (Poonch) arrested by the police.
