JAMMU, Apr 19: Two youth were killed while six persons were injured today in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, two youth identified as Shubham (19) son of Om Parkash, resident of Karloop (Kanachak) and Rahul (23) son of Jeet Raj, resident of Pounichak, were going to attend a marriage function on a bike when a speeding bus hit their two-wheeler at Arnia near petrol pump.
“In the mishap, Shubham killed on the spot while Rahul received serious injuries. The body of the deceased as well as seriously injured Rahul was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Bishnah, from where Rahul was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment while after conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, the spokesman said.
At Subhash Nagar in Digiana area, a tractor hit a nursing student namely Kulwinder Kaur (20) daughter of late Gurcharan Singh, resident of Sector 8, Nanak Nagar, this afternoon when she was on her way to home. She received serious injuries in the mishap and was rushed to GMCH, Jammu, where she succumbed to her injuries at about 8 pm. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
Another mishap occurred near Toph bridge, where a rashly driven bike bearing registration number JK02BG-6552 hit a auto number JK02AX-6667. In the mishap, three persons including driver of the auto were injured. They were identified as Prem Singh son of Joginder Singh (45), resident of Qasim Nagar, Neeraj Sharma (22) son of Ram Krishan, resident of Akhnoor and Gourav Sharma (19) son of Raman Kumar, resident of Muthi. They were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment.
A motorcyclist identified as Deepak Kumar (24) son of Chain Lal, resident of Pangali (Khour), sustained injuries as his bike got slipped at Khour. A pedestrian namely Satpal Gupta (70) son of Mani Ram Gupta of Talab Tillo was hit and injured by an auto at Jain Nagar in Talab Tillo area. Both the injured were taken to GMCH for treatment.
In all cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
