JAMMU, June 4: Two persons were killed today in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a PHE employee identified as Vijay Singh Bhagat (45), son of Tunda Ram, resident of Uttam Nagar (Kunjwani), was killed on the spot this afternoon when a scooter bearing registration number JK02R-5618 on which he was travelling to his residence, was hit by a speeding HP Roadways bus bearing registration number HP42-1243 at Gangyal Chowk.
The body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for post mortem. In this connection, a case under relevant sections was registered at police station Gangyal while the accused driver Puran Chand son of Budhi Singh, resident of Himachal Pradesh arrested and the bus seized.
In another case, a pedestrian identified as Rashpal (50) son of Munshi, resident of Akhnoor, sustained serious injuries when an unknown vehicle hit him at Pallwan (Akhnoor), last night. The injured man was rushed to SDH Akhnoor but in view of his serious condition, he was shifted to GMCH Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries today at about 6.20 am.
