JAMMU, Nov 9: In a road mishap, two persons were killed and 31 others, including 15 females and an eight-year old girl, sustained injuries when an over speeding passenger bus skidded off the road and turned turtle on Dhar Road near Jagano, around 8 kms from Udhampur town, this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Mohd Hussain (34 years) son of Ammi of Jagano and 28-year old Daler Ahmed alias Dalli (conductor of the ill fated bus), son of Bashir Ahmed.
The bus, bearing registration number JK02AU-7617, was on its way from Jagano to Udhampur when it met with the accident around 8.45 a.m. Mohd Hussain reportedly died on the spot while Daler Ahmed succumbed to his injuries at GMC Hospital Jammu.
According to the eyewitness accounts, the accident took place due to rash and negligent driving by the driver who fled the spot after mishap.
Satya Devi, one of the injured, said that the driver was overtaking a mini bus and also fiddling with the tape recorder when he lost control over steering resulting into the accident.
After the mishap, long queues of vehicles were witnessed resulting in a jam on the road for some time disrupting Srinagar bound traffic from Samba and Dayalachak side.
On getting information about the accident, Police authorities under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Anil Magotra and some Army officials also rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to District Hospital Udhampur where a number of them were discharged after required treatment. Three seriously injured, including a pregnant woman were shifted to Army hospital where condition of all of them was stated to be out of danger.

Police has registered a case in this connection at Udhampur Police Station.
