Two killed, 10 injured as mini-bus turns turtle

JAMMU, Apr 11: Two persons were killed while 10 others were injured today when a mini-bus turned turtle at Gho Manhasan, in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, the mishap occurred early this morning when the mini-bus bearing registration number JK02BE-8896, was on its way to the shrine of Bawe Wali Mata in Bagh-e-Bahu.
He said that in the mishap, a nine-year-old boy namely Tirth Ram of Village Saran was killed on the spot while 11 others got injured. Two people who got minor injuries in the mishap were provided first aid at a nearby Government hospital while nine others were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where the seriously injured Kamlesh Devi (55) wife of Tanter Singh, a resident of Gho Manhasan, succumbed to her injuries at about 2 pm.
“The injured persons undergoing treatment at GMCH Jammu have been identified as Kalasho Devi (60), Kanta Devi (53), Bishno Devi (60), Sudha Kumari (16), Shallu Kumari (16), Nisha (19), Baby (18) and Pooja Rani (23), all residents of Saran”, the spokesman said, adding the bodies of the deceased persons were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities.
“A case in this connection was registered at police station Domana and efforts were on to nab the accused mini-bus driver, who managed to escape from the spot. However the mini-bus was seized”, the spokesman added.
