Two inter-state narco smugglers arrested with heroin

JAMMU, Dec 11: Continuing its drive to save the youth from falling into the trap of drug menace, Gangyal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ launched by SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta arrested two inter-state narcotics smuggler and recovered 45 grams heroin valuing around Rs 5 lakh from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gangyal Police Station led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammed Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary laid a naka at Digiana Camp and signaled a Maruti car bearing registration number JK02BC-4949 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted the car after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 45 grams heroin valuing around Rs 5 lakh from the possession of two persons traveling in the car and arrested them.
The arrested person have been identified as Gangandeep Singh, son of Baljeet Singh of Simbal Camp and Sourav Sudan, son of Mahesh Sudan of Indra Nagar tehsil RS Pura, district Jammu.
During questioning, they disclosed that they had brought the consignment from Punjab for selling among the youth and ruining the society in and around Jammu city.
Both the arrested persons are notorious drug peddlers of Simbal Camp area of Jammu and with their arrest, police achieved a major success to restrict the supply of heroin in and around Jammu city and also saved the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 94/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
