Two inter-state drug peddlers in police net

UDHAMPUR, Feb 8: Police today arrested two inter-state drug peddlers along with 10 kilograms of poppy straw from Jakhani area, falling under the jurisdiction of Udhampur police station.
As per police sources, police team from Udhampur police station intercepted a load carrier bearing registration number PB08BZ-9379, which was on its way to Punjab from Srinagar at Jakhani.
During checking, police recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested two inter-state drug peddlers.
The accused have been identified as Manjeet Singh, son of Karam Chand of Ludhiana, Punjab and Mangat Ram, son of Mohinder Pal, a resident of Phloor, Punjab.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Udhampur police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Udhampur police station Inspector Mahesh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SP Headquarters Gaurav Mahajan and SSP Udhampur Suleman Choudhary.
