JAMMU, Sept 2: Police here in Akhnoor area claimed today that they have arrested two persons and recovered from their possession illicit liquor and lahan.
A police spokesperson said that a team of Police Station Akhnoor led by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma assisted by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq while on patrolling duty received an information regarding the sale of illicit liquor in the area under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor Police Station.
Accordingly, he said, the police team conducted a raid at the suspected location and rounded up two suspects identified as Kamal Singh and his wife Manjeet Kour, both residents of Nardiwala, Tehsil Maira Mandriyan, Akhnoor.
During search, the police team recovered 200 litres of lahan and 7 litres of illicit liquor, said the police spokesperson.
The accused have been booked in case FIR number 250/2023 under Sections 48(a) and 48(f) of the Excise Act registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation taken up, added the police spokesperson.
