Two held with heroin worth Rs 5 lakh

JAMMU, Feb 4: Gandhi Nagar police arrested two drug peddlers with heroin worth Rs 5 lakh.
According to a police official, a police party from Gandhi Nagar laid a naka at Chattri Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, last night. He said during naka checking, one Honda City car bearing registration number DL7CF-3558 was intercepted and on frisking/search, 90 gram of heroin was recovered from the possession of the driver of the Car namely Dilbagh Singh son of Janak Singh, resident of Ward No 4, Simbal Camp, Jammu and his associate namely Mumtaz Ahmed son of Showket Ali, resident of Salwa, tehsil Mendhar, Poonch.
“The drug was seized by the police and both the accused were arrested,” the official said, adding in this connection as case FIR No 37/2019 under Sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and further investigations started.
He further informed that the accused Dilbagh Singh is a hardcore criminal and was earlier involved in a number of cases of attempt to murder/narcotics etc while Mumtaz Ahmed was also involved in many cases of Narcotics smuggling.
The arrest and recovery was made by SHO Gandhi Nagar, Inspector Sunil Jasrotia under the supervision of SDPO South Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani and SP South Vinay Kumar.
