JAMMU, May 28: Police today claimed they have arrested two alleged drug peddlers in separate operations in Kathua and Reasi districts and recovered heroin-like narcotic substance from their possession.
In Kathua district, a team of Police Station Hiranagar apprehended a suspect during patrolling near Tarnah Nallah in the Dyalachak area and recovered approximately 5.22 grams of heroin (Chitta) from his possession.
The accused was identified as Kuldeep Kumar alias Keepa, a resident of Chann Datyal in Hiranagar area.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act against the accused at Police Station Hiranagar and started investigation.
Meanwhile, in Reasi district, Police Station Katra during naka checking at Ambika Chowk intercepted a suspicious person identified as Ashok Kumar, a resident of Matyal, Katra.
During his search, police recovered approximately 2.5 grams of heroin (Chitta).
A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway.
