JAMMU, Apr 14: Police today claimed to have arrested two persons from Patoli Chowk area here and recovered 8.50 grams of heroin from their possession.
A police official said that a patrolling team of Police Station Janipur, led by PSI Vivek Daliya along with other officials, under the supervision of SHO Janipur, Inspector Vikram Sharma, was on duty near Patoli Chowk when they noticed a Toyota Etios (JK02CJ-4367) coming from Sarwal towards Paloura.
On seeing the police presence, he said the occupants of the vehicle tried to change their route and escape, but were swiftly intercepted by the alert police team.
The police further official said that during checking and personal search, police recovered 8.50 grams of heroin from their possession.
The accused were identified as Arun Kumar of Talli Morh, Jammu, and Chahat Tikoo of Indira Vihar, Old Janipur, Jammu.
According to the police official, the duo failed to give any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the contraband.
Accordingly, he said they were booked in case FIR number 42/2026 registered under sections 8/21/22/29/60 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Janipur and further investigation taken up.
He said the vehicle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized.
Meanwhile, the investigation in the case has been entrusted to PSI Ranjeev Singh to probe the forward and backward linkages of the drug network, added the police official.
