UDHAMPUR, Nov 18: Police arrested two persons along with 25 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki) from Jakhani area, falling under the jurisdiction of Udhampur police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Udhampur police station laid a naka at Jakhani and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB29D-9487.
During checking, police recovered 25 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki) from the truck and arrested two persons. The vehicle was also seized by the police.
The accused has been identified as Desh Raj, son of Khilu Ram of Sarsu Ramnagar and Mahraz, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Kulgam Kashmir.
A case under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Udhampur police station and investigations started.
Police team led by SHO Udhampur police station Inspector Arjun Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Suleman Chowdhary.
