Two held for stealing Rs 21000 from Amarnath yatri

JAMMU, July 6: Two persons were arrested for stealing Rs 21000 from an Amarnath yatri here.
A police spokesperson said that on July 4, 2023, a written complaint was lodged by a yatri namely Anand Sharma of Banadada Indore, Madhya Pradesh, regarding theft of Rs 21000 from Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar area here.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 105/2023 under section 379 of IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, the police spokesperson said that two suspects identified as Raj Kumar and Ram Jeevan both residents of District Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, were picked up for questioning after proper analysis of the CCTV footages.
On the disclosure of the suspects, he said, the stolen amount of Rs 21000 was recovered and both the accused were arrested.
The recovery and arrest were made by Inspector Surinder Raina, SHO Nowabad assisted by PSI Younis Khanday under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Dr Sunniya Wani and overall supervision of SP City North Kulbir Handa.
