JAMMU, July 3: In separate areas in city outskirts, two persons including a 14-year-old girl were found hanging at their respective residences while a young woman died in a road mishap.
According to a police official, a 14-year-old girl namely Suman Balia daughter of Manmohan Singh Balia, resident of Green Avenue (Digiana), was found hanging at her residence around midnight of Monday.
He said after getting conducted postmortem at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, the dead body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites. “In this connection, Satwari police has initiated inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC”, he added.
Similarly, an auto driver namely Rajeev Kumar Vaid (51) son of Suraj Parkash Vaid, resident of Subash Nagar, was found hanging with the ceiling fan at his residence this morning. No suicide note was recovered from the spot and the body was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites after completion of all medico-legal formalities. Sarwal police has initiated inquest proceedings in the case.
Meanwhile, a young woman identified as Shifali Kaur (25) wife of Bupinder Singh, resident of Sungal (Akhnoor) sustained injuries this evening when an unknown vehicle hit the scooty she was riding, at Akhnoor. With serious injuries, the woman was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, but in view of her serious condition, she was referred to GMCH Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem to be conducted tomorrow. In this connection, Akhnoor police had registered a case and started investigations.
