Two extortionists impersonating as police personnel held

JAMMU, Dec 30: Police claimed to have arrested two extortionists posing as police personnel from Bishnah and RS Pura areas today.
A police spokesperson said that information was received through reliable sources that some persons posing themselves as incharge Police Post snatched some articles from street hawkers and then extorted money from them in Bishnah town.
Similar complaint was received from Dablehar area of RS Pura, where an egg seller reported that some unknown persons extorted Rs 2000 from him, and took away his mobile phone, by posing themselves as incharge Police Post, he said.
Probing both the cases, the police spokesperson said that two separate FIRs were lodged and special teams of both Bishnah and RS Pura Police Stations were constituted.
During the course of investigation, he said, police teams of Bishnah and RS Pura led by SHOs concerned rounded up three suspects who confessed to their involvement in the crimes. They were identified as Akhil Chopra, Roshan, and Nitin Kumar of RS Pura.
Police have arrested the accused and started further investigations into the cases.
