Two drown in Chenab

RAMBAN, Jan 21: Two persons drowned in Chenab river near Karol area here today.
As per police sources, two persons travelling in a truck bearing registration number HP64A-8633 from Jammu to Srinagar de-boarded the vehicle and after going downhill started clicking pictures.
While doing so, pictures, both got accidentally slipped and drowned in river Chenab.
After getting information, police team led by SHO Inspector Sandeep Charak and local volunteers launched massive searches in Mehar, Maitra, Seri, Changa and Kowbagh areas, but could not fish out the bodies from the river. SP Ramban Mohita Sharma also reached the spot and supervised the search operation.
The searches were called off late in the evening due to continuous rainfall and will resume tomorrow morning.
The drowned persons were identified as Manjeet Singh (50), son of Diljeet Singh and Jitender Singh (28), son of Mangal Singh, both residents of Maqboolpura Amritsar Punjab.
Ramban Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
