GCOE starts 3-day intl workshop on “Enhancing Research Skill”

JAMMU, Jan 21: Government College of Education (GCOE) Jammu today started a three-day International Workshop on “Enhancing Research Skill” through virtual mode in which renowned international personalities are participating to enlighten the students and faculty members of the College about the importance of research skills.
The workshop assumes importance as the research skills help in identifying the problem, collecting informational resources that can help address the problem, evaluating these resources for quality and relevance and coming up with an effective solution.
The workshop was planned by the Research Hub in Education and Teacher Education of the Government College of Education Jammu under the patronage of Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour. On the first day of the workshop, Dr Marlina Jamal, Assistant Professor School of Language, Literacies and Translation (PPBLT), University Sains Malaysia Penag, Malaysia was the eminent speaker.
The workshop began with the welcome address by Dr Sushma Bala, Coordinator, Research Hub. Dr. Shubhra Jamwal is the Organizing Secretary of the workshop.
In her detailed and enlightening lecture, Dr. Marlina Jawal shared important tips for improving research skills and how to improve research productivity in higher education institutions. She also shared some methodologies which contain the idea of how to involve students and faculty members in improving organizational research output.
Principal of the College Dr Kulvinder Kour appreciated the Research Hub for organizing the workshop so as to guide the students and faculty members on various aspects of enhancing research skills. She also threw light on the recent initiatives taken by the College for improving the research skills.
Prof Satish Sharma, Prof Jyoti Parihar, Dr Maansi Sharma, Dr Tahira Shah, Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shapia Shameem Bhatti and Prof Seema Kumari were also present at the event.
Tomorrow, Dr. S R Candy D’Cunha, Associate Professor of English, Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology, Andhra Pradesh will enlighten the participants about the research skills while Dr Habibullah Shah, Associate Professor of Education, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Kashmir will share his knowledge on the subject on the third day of the workshop.
