Two die of COVID, 144 test +ve in Jammu including 75 in Reasi alone

No casualty, 203 infected in Kashmir

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, July 4: Two persons died of COVID-19 while 144 including 75 travelers in Reasi district tested positive in Jammu region today. Kashmir reported 203 fresh cases but no casualties.
A 65-year-old man hailing from village Tethar Takhia in Ramban district died of COVID-19 at his home. He had no co-morbidities. A 65-year-old woman from Halia Bhaderwah in Doda district succumbed to the virus at Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhaderwah.
Out of 144 COVID positive cases in Jammu region, more than 50 percent i.e. 75 were reported in Reasi district alone and all of them were travelers who were found infected during testing at Katra Railway Station.
COVID cases in other districts include 13 each in Jammu and Doda, 11 Poonch, 10 Rajouri, eight Ramban, six Udhampur, four Kishtwar and two each in Samba and Kathua districts.
As against 144 fresh cases, 163 persons today recovered from the virus.
Maximum 35 recoveries were reported in Ramban district, 22 Kishtwar, 20 Reasi, 17 Jammu, 16 Rajouri, 15 each Udhampur and Poonch, 12 Doda and 11 in Kathua district.
Jammu region now has 1,20,096 Corona cases. Among them, 1733 are active positives while 1,16,248 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2115 casualties.
Highest 1135 casualties have occurred in Jammu district followed by 220 in Rajouri, 149 Kathua, 131 Udhampur, 119 Samba, 118 Doda, 92 Poonch, 65 Ramban and 43 each in Reasi and Kishtwar districts.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 14 new COVID positive cases—10 in Leh and four in Kargil. No casualties have been reported in Ladakh for past over fortnight now.
Corona count in Ladakh stood at 20115 including 244 active positives, 19669 recoveries and 202 casualties. As many as 144 fatalities have been recorded in Leh and 58 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, Kashmir reported 203 fresh COVID-19 cases today while there was no fatality in the Valley.
Srinagar reported 75 cases, Baramulla 10, Budgam 31, Pulwama 13, Kupwara 14, Anantnag 18, Bandipora 16, Ganderbal 19, Kulgam 6 and Shopian 1.
With fresh cases of COVID, Srinagar has now 70292 positive cases with 763 active, 68700 recovered, 829 deaths; Baramulla has 23319 positive cases with 245 active, 22795 recovered, 279 deaths; Budgam reported 22656 positive cases with 233 active positive cases, 22219 recovered, 204 deaths; Pulwama has 14926 positive cases with 149 active, 14585 recovered and 192 deaths; Kupwara has 13866 positive cases, 219 active, 13482 recoveries, 165 deaths; Anantnag district has 16153 positive cases with 150 active, 15800 recovered, 203 deaths; Bandipora has 9338 positive cases, with 111 active, 9127 recoveries, 100 deaths; Ganderbal has 9660 positive cases with 181 active, 9403 recoveries and 76 deaths; Kulgam has 11111 positive cases with 172 active, 10823 recoveries and 116 deaths while as Shopian has 5559 positive cases with 11 active cases, 5490 recoveries and 58 deaths.
Moreover, they said, 426 more COVID-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours including 263 from Kashmir. So far 308672 patients have recovered, leaving active cases at 3967 including 2334 in Kashmir.
In the meantime, Immunization Officer, J&K, Dr Shahid Hussian told Excelsior that apart from the previous four districts which have achieved 100% vaccination, four more districts today achieved 100% vaccination in the age group of 45+. He said that these districts are Baramulla, Budgam, Bandipora and Rajouri
“Accelerated efforts by remaining districts in achieving the targets are going on. Also, we have the vaccination coverage of the said category in Poonch at 99%, Kulgam 94% and Anantnag 93%”, he added.
District Magistrate Srinagar, Ajaz Asad said that Market Committee Batmaloo has resolved that no business establishment will be allowed without COIVD vaccination certificate. “Community participation is vital for defeating the pandemic”, he tweeted.
