Two die, 164 test +ve in J&K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Dec 25: Two persons died of COVID-19 and 124 tested positive in Kashmir division today while 40 new cases were reported in Jammu region and 23 in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Among 40 new cases in Jammu division, 19 were registered in Jammu district, five each in Doda and Kishtwar, four each in Udhampur and Poonch and one each in Rajouri, Kathua and Samba districts.
Rest of the districts didn’t report any fresh cases today.
As against 40 cases, 29 persons recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,26,011 Coronavirus cases. Among them, 1,23,466 have recovered from the virus while there have been 2196 casualties and 349 active positive cases.
Among 23 fresh COVID positive cases reported from the Union Territory of Ladakh, 13 were recorded in Leh district and 10 in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 210 active positive cases including 153 in Leh and 57 in Kargil district.
Corona count in Ladakh stood at 22059. Of them, 21631 have recovered while there have been 218 fatalities—160 in Leh and 58 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 124 fresh cases of COVID-19.
These two persons who were suffering from COVID-19 infection and were comorbid died today taking the J&K death toll due to the infection to 4521.
Those who tested positive include 51 from Srinagar, 29 from Baramulla, 9 from Budgam, 8 from Pulwama, 3 from Kupwara, 6 from Bandipora, 16 from Ganderbal, 1 each from Kulgam and Shopian districts.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 214,587 including 211,256 recoveries and 2,325 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,355 including 1,006 from Kashmir division.
With 124 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 334,722 which is 98.27 percent of the total cases.
