JAMMU, Sept 14: A two -day workshop on ‘Introduction to Robotics’ conducted by e-Yantra, CSE Department, IIT Bombay, began today at the Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu, for the teachers of the Engineering and Science streams.
Prof Rajnikant, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, was the chief guest of the inaugural session. He emphasized that it is very essential for the faculty to regularly enhance their knowledge and keep themselves abreast with the latest developments.
Prof Kavi Arya, D Phil(Oxon), Principal Investigator, e-Yantra, and Professor, CSE Department, IIT Bombay, in his virtual address emphasized the need of hands on training in the latest technology using the robotics kits designed by IIT Bombay for enhancement of the skills in the field of micro-controller Programming. He further said that more than 400 robotics labs have been established across the country with the goal of inculcating interest and talent among the young engineers to solve real problems using the high-end latest technology. Prof Arya further said that e-Yantra is a robotics outreach programme funded by Ministry of Education, hosted at IIT Bombay.
Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Head, Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu, elaborated on the series of academics and research initiatives regularly taken up by the department and informed that the participants from more than 20 institutions from different states have registered for the said workshop which shall be conducted by the resource persons from e-Yantra in the computer labs using the robotics kits.
Prof Lalit Sen Sharma, while addressing the audience, emphasized that such hands on training in the field of robotics inculcates their interest in this field. . Kalind Karia and Harish Vikinesh from e-Yantra, IIT Bombay, shall be conducting the workshops.
Prof Vinod Sharma, Dr Shubhnandan S Jamwal, Jasbir Singh, Dr Suresh Rao, Namrata Karlupia, Dr Rajneet Kaur, Haneet Kour, Ayusi Gupta, Anil Tickoo, Sanjay Manhas, Gurpal, Dr Sudesh Tripathi, research scholars, technical staff besides the participants from different institutions across the neighboring states attended the inauguration.
