KATHUA, May 13: A two-day National seminar on the topic ‘Education of Disadvantaged groups with special reference to Lower Socio-Economic Strata/ SC/ ST/ OBC and women population’ began today here at Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education (RGMCE).
The seminar has been organized by RGMCE Kathua in collaboration with the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), University of Jammu (JU).
Prof Meenakshi Kilam, Director, DIQA, JU, was the chief guest while Prof Renu Nanda, Head, Department of Educational Studies, Dr Netar Singh, Principal, GDC Kathua and Dr Satinder Singh, Principal, GDCW, Kathua, were the guests of honour. The function was presided over by Anu Dogra, chairperson.
While delivering the key note address, Prof Renu Nanda emphasized the need to build up inclusive classes and involve the community to empower the disadvantaged groups of the society while Prof Meenakshi Kilam in her address emphasized that during the process of building up of institutions the need for accessibility and inclusiveness should not be sacrificed.
Three technical sessions chaired by Dr Ram Singh (GDC Kathua), Dr Jaspal Singh (assistant Prof DDE, University of Jammu) and dr Rachna Bhagat (GDC Kathua) were conducted today in which about 40 papers were presented.
On the occasion, college newsletter ‘The Sky’ was also released. Pankaj Dogra (Chairman, Surya College), KK Bakshi (Chairman, RS College of Education) and Dr GP Sachdev, Principal, RGMCE Kathua, were also present.
