Two-day ‘Save Reservation Awareness Conference’ begins

JAMMU, Feb 17: Two-day `Save Reservation Awareness Conference’ by All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisation began today.
A large number of the Dalit leaders and cadre from all parts of the country are participating in the conference to discuss strategies for sustaining the cause of Confederation.
The conference was inaugurated today by the national chairman of the Confederation Dr Udit Raj and the participants emphasized upon the protection and implementation of the Constitutional rights of the weaker sections in the State as well as at the national level.
Speakers expressed their views on various issues like State reservation policy- its achievements and failures,  Implementation of Mandal Commission report in toto in J&K,  Political reservation for STs in the State,  Reservation in Rehbar-e-Taleem, Rehbar-e-Zerat, Rehbar-e-Sehat, Consolidated, contractual, Adhoc etc.
Dr Udit Raj said that youth of the society need to be mobilized and made aware about the discriminatory attitude of the Government of the day. He also gave a call to gherao the State Assembly on March 25, 2013 for stressing the demands in the State.
Mr Kalsotra, while speaking on the occasion, asked the people belonging to the depressed sections to come together and pay back to the society to which they belong. He said that awareness at social and political level is the only panacea to unite and put up a collective fight to save reservation which is meant for those deserving them the most.
Those who spoke include RS Maurya (Gujarat), Mehar Singh Bhaurania (Haryana), Maheshwar Raj (AP), Rohit Kumar (U’khand), Shah Mohd Chowdhary, Haji Mehraj-Ud-Din, Zahida Chowdhary, Balwant Kataria, Lok Nath, Roop Krishan, Haji Noor Din Noorani, Ashaq Ali Watal, OD Attri, and others.
