Two-day North Zone Vice Chancellors Meet concludes at SMVDU

KATRA, Nov 17: Two- day North Zone Vice Chancellors Meet, which was organised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), concluded today at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra.
More than sixty Vice Chancellors and Directors of various institutions, including the Officers of NAAC, AICTE, and other Government bodies were engaged in a serious discussion on employability, education and entrepreneurship.
During the valedictory session today, Prof R K Sinha, Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, was the chief guest and he expressed his gratitude to Dr Pankaj Mittal for providing SMVDU an opportunity to organise the North Zone Vice Chancellors Meet.
He raised some significant existential issues and challenges of higher education institutions, addressing what and how education is helping out to get clean air, water and sustainable development. He emphasised that alternate systems are perhaps required, and we need to give importance to our natural resources. He also stressed that we need to make a fine balance between what is good and beautiful in past and present.
At the onset, Prof V K Bhat, Registrar, SMVDU, presented a welcome note, and thanked all the dignitaries. Dr Amitabh V Dwivedi, Head, School of Languages and Dr Saurabh, Head, School of Management, presented a brief report on the two day event, encapsulating the information of the five sessions. Dr Rama Devi Pani, Editor, AIU Newsletter, presented a vote of thanks.
