HARIDWAR, Apr 30: The Tribal Affairs Ministry of Government of India organised a two day camp at Patanjali University here for the development and empowerment of tribals.
Vice Chancellor of Patanjali University, Acharya Balkrishan welcomed the special guests and the camp started with the recitation of National Song by Dr. Archana Tiwari and her team.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram said, for the progress of tribal communities a balance should be essentially maintained between traditional knowledge and modern practices and in this direction the Government of India is continuously making strong efforts.
“The Union Tribal Affairs Ministry is taking initiatives to reduce the developmental gap between various tribal communities and others,” he maintained adding: “While working for the development of tribal communities, we have to ensure that their identity and cultural heritage remains preserved and intact.”
The Minister also talked about the Government schemes for the upliftment of tribal communities in the country.
Durga Das Uikey, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs highlighted the role of tribal communities and mentioned about the legendary characters like Lord Rama and Mata Shabri, Birsa Munda and others.
Acharya Balkrishan said for the welfare and health of the tribal communities, Ayurveda remained an ancient and an important means.
He further said that many students from the tribal communities are getting education in various institutes run by Patanjali.
Swami Ramdev, Yog Rishi, said it is very important to revive the old practices and therapies like Ayurveda.
He threw light on the role of Patanjali in reviving Ayurveda, traditional knowledge and practices, Yoga etc.
Swami Ramdev also said that they are making efforts to strengthen the bond between tribal communities and their traditional resources.
The event ended with a vote of thanks by Ganesh Nagrajan.
