SAMBA, Jan 20: In its continuous drive against bovine smuggling, a police team of Police Station Ghagwal headed by Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO under the supervision of Anil Magotra, SSP Samba and Vijay Pal Singh, DySP (HQ) Samba, arrested two bovine smugglers who were involved in bovine smuggling act and had given a slip to police while carrying 10 bovine animals on January 15.
They were identified as Attar Din S/o Ammu &, Raju S/o Sharief, both residents of Hariachak Kathua. The duo was involved in bovine smuggling cases under FIR No. 07/2015 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PC Act and FIR No. 08/2015U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PC Act of Police Station Ghagwal. Police said that both these accused persons fled away after seeing the Naka at Ghagwal on January 15 leaving their vehicles carrying a total of 10 bovine animals on the National Highway. Accordingly, the bovine animals were rescued by the police and the vehicles viz Mahindra-207 bearing Registration No. JK08C-4057 and Mahindra-207 bearing Registration No. JK08D-3886 were seized.
Since then manhunt was launched to arrest the accused persons, police said, adding the duo was arrested today.
Meanwhile another Police team of P/S Ramgarh headed by Inspector Satish Kumar, SHO under the supervision of SP, Samba, Anil Magotra, and S. S. Sambyal, DySP SDPO Vijaypur apprehended an accused person namely Gurdeep Singh S/o Darshan Singh of Ward No. 12 Vijaypur, involved in theft case of Motor Cycle for which FIR No. 85/2014 U/S 379 RPC was registered at P/S Ramgarh.
Police said a Motor Cycle viz Honda Passion Plus bearing Registration No. HP-39-5703 was recovered from him on his disclosure. The Motor Cycle which belonged to one Koshal Singh S/o Prabhat Singh of Village Goju Tehsil Kangra, at present Hatli Morh Kathua, was stolen from the parking area of Baba Sidh Goria Temple at Swankha Ramgarh on December 18 last year, police added.
Police said during sustained interrogation, another Motor Cycle viz Honda Passion Plus without number having Chasis Number 004A09235868, Engine Number 0470836618 has also been recovered from the said accused persons on his disclosure which has been seized under section 550 CrPC. Further investigation into the matter is going on and recovery of other vehicles in other cases cannot be ruled out, police added.
