Two arrested with contraband, sharp edged weapons

JAMMU, Jan 29: Nowabad Police arrested two persons along with contraband and sharp edged weapons.
As per police sources, during special deployment near beds of river Tawi in connection with the beating retreat ceremony at MA Stadium, a team from Nowabad Police Station led by Inspector Deepak Jasrotia asked two persons to stop, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing the cops, the persons tried to escape but cops intercepted them after a brief chase.
During checking, police team recovered 60 grams cannabis, 300 grams cannabis powder, 500 grams dry cannabis leaves, 4 sharp edged weapons and Rs 16,000 cash and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Rajesh Giri, son of Kishore Giri and Ishwar Giri, son of Mannu Giri, both residing near Bhootnath Temple behind Mandir Masjid Point Tawi Bridge, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 18/2020 under section 8/20 NDPS Act and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered against the arrested persons at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
