Jammu, Aug 21: Two persons were arrested after 1 kg charas was recovered from their vehicle in Panjtirthi area of Jammu City, police said today.
On the intervening night of August 20 and 21, a police party while on Naka duty at Panjtirthi intercepted a Winger Tempo bearing registration No JK02AG-6066 and recovered about 1 kg charas from it, a police officer said.
The driver of the tempo Aman Chawala, son of Yogesh Chawala, resident of House No 81, Pacca Danga and his associate Vijay Kumar, son of Behari Nath, resident of House No 49, Anand Nagar (Jammu) have been arrested, he said, adding a case FIR No 127/2014 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pacca Danga.
Further investigation of the case is going to ascertain the source and destination of the charas, he said.
The arrests were made by a police team led by Sub-Inspector, Incharge, police Post, Panjtirthi under the supervision of SDPO City North and SSP Jammu.
