‘Tumhari Sulu’ bags 7 nominations at IIFA, ‘Newton’ gets 5

NEW DELHI: The Vidya Balan starrer ‘Tumhari Sulu’ has bagged the maximum seven nominations at the 19th edition of the International Indian Film Academy awards in the popular categories including the Best picture while the highly acclaimed ‘Newton’, amassed 5 nominations including in the Best Direction category.

The top picks for the nominations in the Best Picture category, revealed on Tuesday, are ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, ‘Hindi Medium’, ‘Newton’, ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Tumhari Sulu’. The nominees for Best Actor in a leading role (Male) are Irrfan Khan (Hindi Medium), Ranbir Kapoor (Jagga Jasoos), Adil Hussain (Mukti Bhawan), Rajkummar Rao (Newton), Akshay Kumar (Toilet – Ek Prem Katha).

The nominees for Best Actor in a leading role (Female) are Seema Pahwa (Bareilly Ki Barfi), Tabu (Golmaal Again), Meher Vij (Secret Superstar), Seema Pahwa (Shubh Mangal Saavdhan), Neha Dhupia (Tumhari Sulu). Nominations for the Best Director category include Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari (Bareilly Ki Barfi), Saket Chaudhary (Hindi Medium), Anurag Basu (Jagga Jasoos), Amit V Masurkar (Newton), Suresh Triveni (Tumhari Sulu).

The IIFA  Awards announced nominations lists in the popular category as Global Voting goes live from May 22. Announcing the nominations in the popular categories, Andre Timmins, Director- Wizcraft International, the producers and creators of the IIFA movement said, ”It’s a pleasure to see Thailand welcome IIFA with open arms for the 19th edition of NEXA 2018 IIFA Awards Styled by Myntra.
