JAMMU, June 2: Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Trust here today paid tribute to the legendary artist Master Sansar Chand Baru on his 30th death anniversary.
Born on October 2, 1902, and passing away on June 2, 1995, Master Sansar Chand remained a towering figure in the artistic and cultural landscape of J&K.
To remember him, a commemorative ceremony was held in Jammu which was attended by a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, artists, art enthusiasts and others.
Among notable attendees were BJP leader Kavinder Gupta, SHO Rakesh Jamwal, Devyani Rana, Brig. V.S Dhiman (Retd), artist Akram, J.R Sharma and several others who paid respects to the master artist.
Speaking on the occasion, Anuradha Rishi, daughter of Master Sansar Chand and Chairperson of Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Trust, reaffirmed Trust’s commitment to preserve her father’s artistic vision.
“My father believed that art is the soul of a culture. Through the Trust, we continue to uphold his vision by supporting emerging artists and preserving our rich cultural identity,” she said.
SHO Rakesh Jamwal remarked: “Master Sansar Chand Baru is remembered not only for his extraordinary talent as a painter but also for his deep commitment to mentoring the next generation of artists. It is our duty to honour our ancestors and their creative legacies.”
Brig. V.S Dhiman (Retd) said: “Over the decades, Baru Ji mentored numerous disciples, many of whom are now working across the globe carrying forward his legacy.”
The ceremony concluded with floral tribute and a special exhibition showcasing some of Master Sansar Chand’s iconic works.
