Trump says signed coronavirus economic reelief bill into law

Washington, Mar 19: US President Donald Trump said he had signed a multibillion-dollar coronavirus (COVID-19) economic relief bill that had been passed by the Congress. “Today, I have signed into law H.R. 6201, the ‘Families First Coronavirus Response Act’ (the “Act”). The Act makes emergency supplemental appropriations and other changes to law to help the Nation respond to the coronavirus outbreak,” Trump said in a statement, as quoted by the White House. The bill provides free testing for COVID-19, creates an emergency paid leave program, ensures $1 billion food assistance to low-income families and funds unemployment insurance.
The World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11. More than 200,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide, with over 8,700 fatalities. The United States has confirmed over 7,038 cases, with 97 people having died, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
