Trucker arrested with poppy straw, cultivation destroyed

JAMMU, May 29: Truck driver was arrested after nine kilograms of poppy straw was found in his vehicle in Ramban district, whereas Kishtwar Police destroyed poppy cultivation in Lower Hullar.
As per police sources, during routine checking at Jawahar Tunnel, a truck bearing registration number JK08F-2236 was stopped.
During checking, police team recovered 9 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Ajeet Singh, son of Hardev Singh of District Kathua.
A case under FIR Number 109/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
This is the 43rd number of case registered under NDPS Act in District Ramban for this year.
Meanwhile, a police party headed by DySP Headquarters Kishtwar Devinder Singh Bandral, SHO Kishtwar along with Naib Tehsildar Javid Ahmed and Inspector of Excise Department Tousif Wani destroyed poppy cultivation in village Lower Hullar.
A case under FIR Number 118/2021 under relevant sections of laws has been registered and investigation initiated.
