RAMBAN, Dec 7: Batote Police arrested a trucker along with large quantity of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on a specific information, a team from Police Station Batote intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK01M-5144.
During checking, police team recovered 16.1 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Mangat Ram, son of Hadyat Ram of District Amritsar Punjab.
During preliminary questioning, the driver confessed that he was illegally transporting the contraband to Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 75/2020 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation initiated.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Ranjit Rao made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Ramban Rajinder Singh Chib, Additional SP Ramban Rajni Sharma and SSP Ramban Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
