Truck loaded with solar lights seized, 3 detained

RAJOURI, Dec 7: The police seized a truck loaded with solar lights near Sunderbani and detained three persons including driver this evening.
Official sources said that some locals noticed the truck carrying solar light towards Baja Bhain on Beri Pattan- Nowshera road and intercepted. They suspected that in violation of Election code of conduct, these lights will be distributed by the people of ruling party. They over powered driver and two others and handed over to police along with truck.
The police at Sunderbani was tight lipped over the matter but claimed that they were investigating into the matter. Akash Sharma hailing from Kathua and accompanying with the truck revealed that these lights were procured under Atal Jyoti Yojna and were brought in this truck No. JK08F/2122 from there. The police has detained contractor Akash, his associate Surinder Yadav and driver Amrit Pal.
SSP Rajouri, Chandan Kohli said, “It will be too early to say that these lights were connected with DDC elections or were supposed to be distributed among the border villagers. The vehicle has been seized and three people detained. The police was holding inquiry into the whole matter. No FIR has been lodged in this connection so far and moreover, investigation is in progress,” the SSP said.
