Truck plunges into Chenab, 2 washed away

RAMBAN, June 21: Two persons including an employee of Department of Fire and Emergency Services were washed away after a truck skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Mehar area and fell into the Chenab river.
As per police sources, a truck bearing registration number JK03B-4747 skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and rolled down into river Chenab near Mehar area of the district early this morning.
In the accident, two persons identified as Angrez Singh (driver), son of Karnail Singh and Naresh Kumar (an employee of Department of Fire and Emergency Services), son of Gian Chand, both residents of District Udhampur got washed away.
After getting information, police, SDRF and QRT teams rushed to the spot and started operation to fish out the bodies of the drowned persons. Bodies were not fished out till last reports were compiled.
Ramban police had taken cognizance in this regard.
