RAMBAN, Feb 27: Driver of a poultry-laden truck was killed here today while one more person was left critically injured after the vehicle they were on board plunged into a deep gorge near Hingni Morh along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill fated truck bearing registration number HR56C-2850 was moving towards Srinagar from Jammu and the driver lost control over the vehicle when it reached near Hingni Morh after which the truck fell 30 metres down into a gorge.
Soon after receiving the information regarding the accident, cops, local volunteers and rescuers rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
The injured man was retrieved from the gorge and shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ramsoo for treatment. His condition was stated to be critical till last reports. Later on he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Anantnag for specialized treatment.
The deceased was identified as Vikas Kumar, 31, son of Sher Singh, resident of Paju Kalan, Haryana.
His body was shifted to PHC Ramsoo for medico-legal formalities.
The injured was Rahul Kumar, 26, son of Raj Kumar, also a resident of Paju Kalan.
Police have registered an FIR with No. 13 at Police Station Ramsoo in this regard under the relevant sections of law to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
