SAMBA, Dec 4: A truck carrying paper rolls from Kathua to Jammu caught fire under mysterious circumstances at Diani on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway in Samba district today.
The truck was loaded with apaper rolls from Amar Paper Mill, Kathua which was to be unloaded at Jammu. The truck completely perished in the fire. The driver of the truck had a narrow escape. (Click here to watch video)
According to reports, the incident took place this afternoon, when a truck with Registration Number JK08D-8811 loaded with paper rolls was on its way to Jammu from Kathua and after it reached Diani area of Samba district it suddenly burst into flames. Seeing the flames coming out of the paper rolls, the local people immediately rushed to the spot and tried to control the fire, but in vain. They later informed the police.
After getting the information, SHO Samba, Deepak Jasrortia along with his team rushed to the spot and police also informed the fire tender which too reached the spot and doused the flames to control the fire. But till then the truck was completely destroyed in the fire.
Truck driver Ashok Kumar said that the truck was loaded with paper rolls from Kathua which was to be taken to Jammu. As soon as it reached Diani in district Samba, flames started coming out of it and the entire truck caught fire. “People and I informed the police and fire brigade to douse the fire, but by the time the fire brigade arrived, most of the paper rolls in the truck were already burnt,” he said.
Police has taken cognizance of the matter in this regard and started further investigation.
