KOCHI: Medium fast bowler Sanjay Majumder sclaped three batsmen before Samrat Singha hit a calculated 45 as Tripura defeated Jammu and Kashmir by four wickets in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Group B match, here today.
Electing to bat, Jammu and Kashmir batsmen failed to put up a big total as they folded for 119 in 19.1 overs at Nehru Stadium.
Bandeep Singh was top scorer for them with a 33-run knock that came off 32 balls with one four and two sixes. Openers Shunham Khajuria (15) and Ian Dev Singh (18) provided a fiery start but once they were dismissed their innings fell apart.
Only Bandeep managed to score from one end but others hardly put up any resistance.
Tripura kept losing batsmen and never put up a strong partnership but the target was not big enough to be in real trouble.
Opener Singha played solid from one end, scoring a bulk of the runs in the Tripura chase. His 45 came off 42 balls with six boundaries, including a six.
Manishankar Murasingh (23) and Majumder (12) took the side to finish line after being reduced to 89 for six in 16th over. (AGENCIES)
