JAMMU, Jan 12: Rich tributes were paid to Swami Vivekananda on his 153rd birth anniversary.
Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital, Ambphalla celebrated its foundation day and 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in hospital premises. Kavinder Gupta, Speaker, Legislative Assembly was the chief guest. The function started with lightning of traditional lamp, followed by hawan. While speaking, Kavinder Gupta highlighted the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, president, SVMMH presented vote of thanks.
State Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha organized a function to celebrate the 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in which State President BJP and MLA West Sat Sharma was chief guest. BJP State President along with MLA East Rajesh Gupta, BJYM State President Dr Suresh Ajay Magotra, BJYM Prabhari Yudhvir Sethi and other party leaders garlanded the statue of Swami Vivekananda at Vivekananda Chowk. BJYM East Mandal President Hari Om Sharma, Prof Sham Gupta, Bharat Sharma, Tarun Sharma, Dr Makson Tickoo, Vikas Choudhary, Ankush Gupta, Chetan Manhas, Sunny Sangotra, Naresh Sharma, Ajay Manhas, Siddhant, besides many others were present on the occasion.
On the occasion of 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organized various programme at the Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony.Swami Ekarthananda of Rama Krishana Mission Jammu was the main speaker on the occasion, who threw light on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, in his presidential address asked the gathering to follow the teaching of Swami Vivekananda. Dr Bachha Babu, Prof Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator, Heads, faculty and students were present. Earlier, an essay competition was also held on the life of Swami Vivekananda and a documentary film was also screened on the occasion.
On the 153rd Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Dogra College of Education organized ‘Slogan Writing Competition’ in collaboration with NSS Wing of the College. Principal of the college Shefali Sharma threw light on the teaching of Swami Vivekananda. The judges were Vintee Kumari, Renu Sharma and Priyanka Sharma. Fifty teacher trainees participated in slogan writing competition, wherein Shallu Bala, Radhika Kumari and Anjana. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, SC Khajuria, Director Administration and Campus Development and Bela Thakur, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education were also present.
In commemoration with birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda as the National Youth Day, Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Ramnagar organized group discussion and presentations on “Role of Youth in Awareness and Eradicating AIDS”. Principal of the college Prof Taranath was the chief guest. The welcome address was presented by Convener RRC Dr Pankaj Sharma. In the programme, Shakila Rani, Sheel Kumar, Vishal and Oshin Kharka emerged winners. Ankush Gupta and Sanjana Mahajan were the judges.
Government College of Education (GCOE), Jammu organized student-teacher interaction on National Youth Day on the theme “Healthy Life Style”.  Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with NSS Unit of the college coordinated the program.  Senior faculty member of the college Prof CL Shivgotra, Dr Jyoti Parihar and Prof Ashu Jolly shared their views on various aspects of “Healthy Life Style”, healthy philosophy and the crisis youth are facing regarding health. Students of the college Kirti Sharma, Shivani Sharma and Misra also shared their views on health and hygiene, need for exercise and healthy eating habits. Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Kaushal Samotra was also present and expressed her views.
On the occasion of National Youth Day, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion based at Nachlana under Delta Force handed over two girls’ toilets to schools at Govindpura and Mangat taking leap towards “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Both the girls toilet were handed over to the staff of each school in which dignitaries from Army and Civil administration and Official of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, teachers of the school were present.
ABVP Unit of Jammu University celebrated 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in University campus by distributing warm clothes among the needy people. ABVP Unit of Jammu University started the campaign of distributing the warm clothes collected from the students of the Varsity on January 7, which concluded today. The programme was convened by Lokinder Singh, Scholar Convener Jammu University, Kanav Sharma, state executive member, ABVP and Abhinv Pandotra, State joint secretary, ABVP.
National Secular Forum (NSF), City Unit organized a programme in Jammu University to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Amid slogans, the participants paid tributes to Swami Vivekananda and garlanded his portraits. Dr Vikas Sharma was the chief guest and Sukhdev Singh President of Forum, presided over the function. Amit Sangotra, Chairman Jammu, Qayoom Malik University Unit President, Narinder Singh, Vikram Madhyal, PP Singh, Rishikesh Rana, Navjoot Singh, besides many others were present on the occasion.
On the occasion of International Youth Day, Senior Congress leader Sumeet Magotra organized a blood donation camp in District Hospital Udhampur. The camp was held under the supervision of Superintendent District Hospital Udhampur Dr NS Bhatyal. Thirty Units of blood were donated by Congress activists during the camp. Some reporters namely Vikram Singh, Rakesh Kumar and Arun Jasrotia also donated the blood. A large number of people were present in the camp including senior citizen and Congress leader Brij Mohan Sharma.
Congress Committee, Kishtwar, Youth Congress and Sewa Dal celebrated the 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Advocate Suman Bhandari, Wassim Maker, Ravi Shan, Chief, Sewa Dal, Kishtwar, Randeep Bhandari, Nadeem Ahmed, besides many others were present on the occasion.
GS Accounts Institute paid tributes to Swami Vivekananda on his 153rd birth anniversary. Students of the institute led by Chairman Girish Sharma along with senior faculty Ravinder Kumar and Ritu Kumari and Coordinator Harmanpreet Kour garlanded the portrait of Swami Vivekananda.
To mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the members of Aashman Foundation conducted an event Jashan-e-Yuva at Ved Mandir Orphange, Amphala. Surinder Singh Bunty was the chief guest and Ashok Sharma was the guest of honor. Tahir Rufayee, State Coordinator of the Aashman foundation was also present. The event commemorated with a debate competition amongst the children on the topic ‘Swami Vivekananda ji and Youth’. The winners were felicitated with trophies and gifts while all the participants were given consolation prizes. Children also presented dance items and recited poetry. Kanish Sharma, a well renowned singer from Jammu entertained the audience with his mellifluous melody. Mohit, Aatish, Ravinder and Jasleen were also given medals for their selfless contribution.
Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Ranbir Campus celebrated 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Various activities were organized on the occasion. ID Soni, State Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, J&K State was the chief guest in the valedictory function. The function was presided over by the Principal I/C, Sharat Chander Sharma. A panel discussion on the topic “Relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s Teachings and the practical ways of implementing them”, in which Dr Nagendra Nath Jha, Dr D Dayanatha, Dr Arun Kumar Mishra, Dr Dayanidhi Sharma, students namely Vikram Dass, Devi Prabha Biswal and Noel Sharan Dhar and Prof Bachcha Bharati, Dr Suman Bhat and Dr Priyatama Chander Shastri expressed their views. A elocution competition was also organized on the topic “Present Day Relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s Teachings”, in which Dipesh Kumar Pandey, Gopal Sharma and Ashish emerged winners. Essay writing contest was also organized on the topic “Swami Vivekananda’s message and its Relevance for the Students today”. Dr Arun Kumar Mishtra recited the Manglacharana. Dr Prabhat Kumar Mahapatra, Head of the Department of Jyotisha, welcomed the guests whereas Dr Nagendra Nath Jha, Head of the Department of Education presented the vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by Dr Satish Kumar Kapoor, Head of the Department of Sahitya.
