REASI, Jan 12: To review the preparedness of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign in the district, a meeting of District Task Force (DTF) was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Sushma Chauhan, who is also the chairperson of District Health Society Reasi, here today.
While speaking in the meeting, the DDC directed the officers concerned to focus on high risk areas including slums and nomadic populations where chances of polio are on the higher side besides people should also be made aware about immunization. She exhorted that no child below 5 years be left without immunization in the district. She stressed upon the officers of Health, ICDS, Social Welfare and Education Departments to put in their sincere and coordinated efforts to make the district polio free.
DDC stressed for organizing special awareness campaign by involving NGOs for generating maximum awareness among the general public regarding Pulse Polio Campaign in the district. She emphasized on hundred percent successes in the ensuing IPPI rounds and asked all members to work in coordination. She further stressed on officers to educate the masses about the programme and also involve PRI functionaries as they are close to the people and help in implementing these programmes.
DDC said that as many as 364 vaccination booths would be setup in different parts of the district during the campaign to cover 56820 children of 0-5 years for vaccination. She also informed that 18 transit camps, 12 mobile teams along with 79 supervisors, 8 district monitors will be deployed in the district for polio immunization campaign in the district.
Keeping in view the heavy inflow of pilgrims at Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the transit team will provide service for 24 hours. Booths will be set up at all Bus Stands of the district included Check Posts of Katra, Sulla Park, Ransoo (base camp of Shiv Khori Shrine). Mobile teams have also been constituted for the children of workers deployed on Reasi, Katra roads and Konkan Railway constructions.
Earlier, CMO Dr Parminder Singh apprised the members about the comprehensive strategy and joint action plan to be adopted during the first round of IPPI programme.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner Development Reasi Suram Chand Sharma, Chief Medical officer Reasi Dr. Parminder Singh, Chief Education officer Reasi Vinod Kumar Soni, ARTO Reasi Pawan Sharma, DSWO Pritam Lal, EO Municipality Reasi Rattan Lal, IPPI Nodal officer Reasi Dr. K.C Dogra, BMOs, representative of NGOs and various prominent citizens attended the meeting.
