JAMMU, Oct 1: Rich tributes were paid to renowned painter and former curator of Dogra Art Gallery Master Sansar Chand Baru in a function held at K L Saigal Hall of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in connection with the birth anniversary of Late Baru here today.
The function was jointly organised by Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Trust and the J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages. It was presided over by noted artist and writer N D Jamwal while DIG CRPF M C Pawar was the chief guest. Principal Commissioner, Income Tax, Sangeeta Gupta, who is also a noted artist (painter), also graced the occasion during mid of the session as special invitee to the function.
The function commenced with the felicitation of veteran artist of national repute, T N Koul by the Trust chairperson Anuradha Rishi (daughter of Master ji), Mr Jawmal, Member Trustee Gopal Sharma, Additional Secretary of Academy Dr Arvinder Singh Amn and the chief guest Mr Pawar. It was attended by artists, writers, poets, intellectuals and students from Institute of Fine Arts. They paid their rich tributes to Late Sanasar Chand Baru, popularly known as ‘Master ji’ on their birthday which falls on October 2.
Mr Aman welcomed the guests and other invitees and threw some light on the works and contributions of Master ji. Lalit Gupta, a noted writer, historian and critic presented detailed paper on the life, achievements and contributions of Master ji in the field of art. He expressed how rich command Master ji had on his creative work which has its own significance. His subject, ideas and emotions clearly depict in his paintings. Mr Gupta also refereed to his association with the Dogra Art Gallery and hard work put in by him to raise it.
Mr Jamwal, highlighted his association with Master ji and described him as real teacher. He said being his student he feels proud as artists of his potential and caliber are very few. He suggested the Academy to come out with a book or literature on the contribution and works of this great artist.
DIG Pawar, referred to the special interest of IG CRPF, Kuldip Dhar in the art work and said he was supposed to attend the function but could not make it due to some unavoidable reasons. Extending gratitude to the trust and Academy for giving this opportunity to share the platform, the DIG sought support of artists from Jammu to design a main Gate and out walls of newly raised Unit of the CRPF at Koota near Hiranagar on National Highway by giving local Dogra touch. He invited the artists for this project.
Anuradha Rishi, chairperson of the Trust, presented vote of thanks. She said her father was his Guru and guide in the field art and objective of this Trust is to promote art and culture.
